Every week during Lockdown I take an early morning weekly wander to beat the crowds.
My earliest was 7am and my longest was 5.5 hrs.
Every week during Lockdown I head to Walthamstow Marshes . It takes me about 40 minutes to get there. From Dalston, I’m not the fastest walker, definitely more of an ambler I’ve always been.
Every week during Lockdown I take my flask, banana and 2 oatcakes with Marmite. Once I took sandwiches. Almost every week I took my shoes off and had a barefoot wander.
A couple of times I had some social distancing company, I celebrated my 38th birthday, I picked some nettles for tea and Cow Parsley leaves for fresh pesto. I always pick a single stem to place by my bedside. My weekly reminder, of the wind that flowed through the trees.
Somewhere in the midst I always look forward to losing myself, letting go, a little bit at a time of my old self, my everyday, the busy city life of which I do not want to return.
The say it takes 66 days to form a new habit.
So, every week after Lockdown…
